Great news for Energy Efficient Builders! The $2,000 tax credit for building an energy efficient home has been renewed. Single Family and Multifamily homes may qualify if units are completed and sold prior to January 1st, 2021. The renewed credit is retroactive for up to 3 years. This credit is per unit and is only available for the builder or developer depending on ownership. (see your CPA for details)
Homes must be at least 50% above the 2006 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) in HVAC efficiencies and 10% above insulation levels. Homes must be certified by an approved rater, such as Energy Incentives. All homes must have a blower door and a duct test performed, then modeled in approved software.
If you are already a builder/partner with Energy Incentives, INC you have already received your current and retroactive tax credit certificates. Some of you have reduced your tax burden by several $100,000. If you are not yet a partner builder, contact Energy Incentives to see if you qualify.
