Air Barrier Testing and Code Compliance
Washington State Energy Code (WSEC) requires that new commercial buildings test for infiltration and exfiltration in accordance with ASTM E 779. The 2015 WSEC commercial code requires that buildings be tested at least once, attempting to reach the target of .40cfm/sq.ft. of enclosure at 75pa.
Buildings permitted after July 1st, 2020 will be required to meet the 2018 WSEC commercial code. Buildings must be tested and must achieve the target of .25cfm/ft.sq. of enclosure at 75pa.
For military facilities, we follow the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) air leakage test protocol for testing the effectiveness of the building air barrier.
Energy Incentives, INC adheres to the strict guidelines for testing commercial buildings, including testing to meet the 2015 IECC (International Energy Conservation Code) using ASTM and ISO standards. Specialized equipment is required to achieve the ASTM E779 standard. Multiple blower door fans and manometers are interconnected, coupled with approved software to give you results that meet the highest level of confidence. Infrared testing is a useful diagnostic tool to identify leakage areas. Energy Incentives, INC has professional staff as well as the required equipment to complete this task. We are currently serving the northwest area of the United States. Pricing outside this area is available upon request.
